Our Story

Authentic Turkish Bakery in the HEART of White River Junction
Cappadocia Cafe is a life long dream of Owner, Vural Oktay. Vural grew up in the old city of Istanbul with its tantalizing smells, crowded streets, ancient history and of course, its delicious street foods. Vural always wanted to share those street food delicacies with his new community in Vermont.
In the beginning of 2024, Vural's dreams would begin to come true as the perfect location for his Turkish Bakery concept became available. Vural and partners, wife Jacqueline Oktay and brother Hasan Oktay, also the owners of Tuckerbox Restaurant (White River Junction), Istanbul Kebab House (Burlington), and Little Istanbul (White River Junction & Burlington, wasted no time with their new location and started seeking ways to put in a wood fired oven - not an easy feat. Cooking with wood is a passion for Vural and absolutely critical for the Turkish Bakery concept. With this wood fired oven, Vural could offer his community the most authentic Lahmacun, Pide, and Bafra Pide - some of his go to savory treats when he visits his old home in Istanbul. In addition to these delectable flatbreads, Cappadocia Cafe offers a wide variety of Turkish street pastries like simit, pogaça, açma, savory cookie, delicious Turkish cakes and sweet treats and more.
